Philip W. Faris, Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Faris has a long track record of building market-leading companies in emerging medical markets and has successfully performed at the CEO level for over 20 years in start up, early stage, high growth and turn around/restart situations. Mr. Faris has served in executive management for Med Diversified, Inc. (formerly e-MedSoft.com) and its subsidiaries, Trestle Corporation, CypherMedix, Inc. and VidiMedix Corporation. Prior to founding VidiMedix Corporation, he was Founder, Chairman and CEO of Synergie Health Information Systems, Inc. Concurrently, Mr. Faris was also President, CEO and a Director of Primacis Health Information Technology, Inc., formed with Baylor College of Medicine’s venture group and now owned by GE Medical Systems. Prior to this position, he was president, CEO and director of Diatek Corporation and its three wholly owned subsidiaries: Diatek, Inc., Neurometrics, Inc. and Arkive Information Systems, Inc. Mr. Faris previously served as director of business development and, earlier, marketing for IVAC Corporation (which is now part of CareFusion). He has also held senior level general management and marketing positions with Millipore Corporation, Schering Plough Corporation, and Elkins-Sinn, Inc.

Larry J. Miller, M.D.
Founder
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Miller has treated more than 120,000 emergency patients since training at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital, where he earned the Intern of the Year Award. For 10 years he was Chairman of Emergency Medicine at the five Baptist Health System Hospitals in San Antonio. He is currently the medical director for 15 Emergency Medical Services organizations. Dr. Miller brings a rich experience of clinical medicine (30 years as an emergency medicine specialist and opinion leader), in-depth knowledge of intraosseous physiology (directing intraosseous research, human clinical trials and FDA device approval), and business management (20 years directing product development, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing, as well as President and CEO of three medical device companies). Dr. Miller, in collaboration with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, developed an extensive patent portfolio for the Vidacare technology and received FDA clearance for 12 indications.

Jim Thomsen
Co-Founder and Executive Vice President
Vascular Access Sales

Mr. Thomsen is a seasoned medical device sales and marketing executive, with over 30 years of experience in healthcare and medical devices. With 12 years experience specifically in IV access products, he was consistently top in sales with Jelco, a division of Johnson & Johnson; US Surgical (sales from $3 million to $1 billion in 5 years); Vicra, a division of Baxter; Pioneer Viggo, a division of BOC; and Intertech Resources. Highly entrepreneurial, Mr. Thomsen founded his own medical device distribution company (Intermedway) in 1989 and grew it to $244 million in six years. He later raised $65 million for the creation of Critical Care Concepts, a device distribution company that was later sold to Cardinal Health. A knowledgeable marketer and innovative thinker, he has consistently exceeded corporate goals. Mr. Thomsen received his B.A. in History and English at McMurry University in Abilene, TX.

Mark P. Mellin, CPA
Senior Vice President, Finance/Administration and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Mellin brings a wealth of experience to the Vidacare executive team as a veteran in the biotechnology industry possessing deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, SEC rules and regulations and public company financial reporting. A San Antonio native for over 40 years, Mellin currently serves as the Audit Committee Chairman of the board of directors for Rackspace Hosting, Inc. Previously, Mr. Mellin was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Ilex Oncology and managed the financial aspects of the sale of the San Antonio-based company to Genzyme Corporation for $1 billion. Prior to that, he was the managing partner of the San Antonio office of Arthur Andersen LLP. Mr. Mellin holds a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1984.

Michael Voss
Senior Vice President
Leader, Vascular Access Business Unit

Mr. Voss’ 20 years of executive management experience includes most recently serving as Vice President and General Manager of the Vascular Interventions Division at Spectranetics Corporation.  During his tenure there, he increased sales more than 23 percent annually in 2008 and launched two new products. He has also held managerial, marketing and sales positions with Bard Access Systems, Cordis Cardiology (a Johnson & Johnson company) and Boston Scientific.  Mr. Voss holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. Prior to entering the medical device industry, Voss served as a Captain in the U. S. Army.

Clas G. Runnberg
Managing Director
International Operations

Mr. Runnberg is responsible for the operational and financial performance of all of Vidacare’s business activities outside of the Americas. He has over thirty years of international sales, marketing and corporate management experience in the medical industry. Mr. Runnberg formerly served in executive management at HemoCue AB, where he directly managed the sale of the company, in conjunction with Goldman Sachs, achieving a transaction price of over $400 million US. Mr. Runnberg previously served as the director of marketing and business development at HemoCue AB, where he built up the company’s presence in over 80 countries through direct operations, subsidiaries, franchise marketing companies and distributors. Prior to joining HemoCue, he held vice president and director positions at BLOCK Medical and Diatek Corporation, respectively. Mr. Runnberg has held senior marketing and product management positions at a number of other major healthcare corporations as well.

Becky S. Ariana
Vice President
Leader, OnControl Business Unit

With more than 30 years of experience in the oncology, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries, Ms. Ariana formerly served as oncology specialist at Millennium Pharmaceuticals. During her tenure there, she successfully launched Velcade, a first-in-class proteasome inhibitor, to the oncology market. Ms. Ariana previously served as sales consultant at Berlex Oncology, where she spearheaded the launch of Campath, a humanized monoclonal antibody, while growing the market share of two other products. Prior to joining Berlex, she developed her own successful marketing consulting business, Medigy, where she served as president for 10 years. Ms. Ariana has also held senior business, analytical and strategic consulting positions at a number of other major healthcare corporations, as well as director of the cardiac and pulmonary departments at Plano General Hospital in Texas. Ms. Ariana earned an advanced degree in cardiopulmonary therapy from the University of Chicago, and her bachelor’s of science degree in zoology and psychology from Iowa State University.

Rose Tomich-Litz
Senior Director, Worldwide
Operations and Logistics

Ms. Tomich-Litz brings over 15 years of experience within the electronic, medical device and software industries to her position at Vidacare, where she is responsible for supply chain management and new product development within manufacturing operations. She most recently served as Vice President, Operations at both American Technology Corp. and Promicro Systems, where she oversaw manufacturing, purchasing, and information technology, among other duties. Ms. Tomich-Litz held executive positions at Prisa Networks and ACCEL Technologies, before that. Ms. Tomich-Litz earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from San Diego State University.

Bob Titkemeyer
Senior Director
Quality Systems and Product Engineering

Mr. Titkemeyer is a senior executive with a rich history of working with medical device companies in the United States and in Europe, specifically in the areas of Quality Assurance, FDA Compliance, new product design and product rollout. Mr. Titkemeyer’s responsibilities are to direct the company’s RA and QA programs and initiatives, and develop manufacturing and sustaining engineering programs through internal and external resources. He also functions as the company’s chief quality officer and is responsible for conformance with all regulatory agencies in the U.S. and worldwide. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University.
