Many Air Medical and Critical Care transport team now using EZ-IO as their first line solution. - EZ-IO, EZIO, Intraosseous, Intraosseous access, intraosseous infusion, Vascular access, immediate vascular access, rapid vascular access, IO, IO needle, IO gun, io access, IO drill, drill, IO driver, emergency medical services, combat casualties, federal military, Central line alternative, emergency medicine, Disaster medicine EZ-IO provides rapid, safe, and secure vascular access via the intraosseous space. In air medical response, time is everything – and in many scenarios where air medical support is requested, vascular access can be difficult or time-consuming. EZ-IO places time back on your side.

EZ-IO can quickly establish stable vascular access in less than 10 seconds — for adults and children, awake or unconscious1. The majority of flight services in the US already have EZ-IO on board. Many flight personnel are using EZ-IO as their first line solution for vascular access in cardiac arrest and resuscitation scenarios, enabling critical medications and fluids to be given very early in resuscitative efforts. Some flight services have given up carrying central lines altogether – they report EZ-IO completely meets their vascular access needs, with less risk.

Therapeutic hypothermia has gained recent attention in the literature as a viable treatment for post-arrest patients with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Much of the literature on therapeutic hypothermia recommends early initiation to increase the probability of positive outcomes. Using EZ-IO to initiate therapeutic hypothermia rapidly can avoid critical treatment delays due to difficult vascular access on scene or en route to the hospital.

IO access is also ideal for patients who have poor peripheral vasculature such as diabetics, renal or dialysis patients, burn victims, obese patients, and others for whom vascular access can be challenging — especially in the confines of a medical aircraft.

When confronted with patients who need immediate vascular access, EZ-IO is your ideal solution.
